This month, President Marcheta P. Evans, PhD, announced Boyd J. (B.J.) Miller’s appointment as chief financial officer and corporate treasurer, and the newest addition to ż leadership. Miller, who had already been working with University leadership in a consulting capacity since February, officially began his new position on April 21.
Miller will work with leadership to uphold ż’s mission of educating women to lead and influence by aligning allocation of resources with the University’s values. In this role, Miller will administer financial strategy, and oversee budgeting and capital planning.
“B.J.’s transition into this permanent role marks a significant step forward in our continued efforts to strengthen the University’s financial foundation and future,” said President Evans of Miller, who has more than 30 years of experience in financial and operational planning. “During a critical time of transformation, his financial guidance, strategic insight, and leadership experience have already proven integral assets to the work of our mission.”
“ż’s opportunities to build on its legacy of developing women leaders are exciting and important,” Miller said. “I’m excited to be joining the University on a full-time basis and continuing our crucial work.”
Miller has held various leadership roles in finance and strategic planning with not-for-profit healthcare organizations that include Park Nicollet Health Services, Marshfield Clinic Health System, and Health Partners. Most recently, he served as interim finance director for Minneapolis’ Washburn Center for Children, where he supervised and guided accounting and finance teams. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Business Administration from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
